boyshapedbox: (sexy hot stuff)
I was walking back from Poetter Hall when I ran into my friend Kacey from back in the dorms. We were talking about what majors we were and why we decided on them. Kacey used to be video and film, and he is now illustration. Why?
Well not because he doesn't like, video or film, not that he doesn't like making movies...

He switched because of "the cage." Specifically the people who work "The cage."

The cage is this tiny room at both Hamilton Hall and Montgomery Hall where computer art majors, and video/film majors can check out equipment. It is run by some hateful hateful bitches.
Example: You walk into the cage and you need something. When you first walk in you are ignored until you make your presence known ie: being the first to speak. Then you ask for what you came in for: say, an extension cord.
"Can I have an extension cord?"
"A Z-85watly?"
"...ugh, an extension cord."
"A Z-85WATLY?"
"Ummm...."
"A DOUBLE HEADED Z-85WATLY?!?!?"
".....yellow?"

They cannot comprehend that you don't know the brand name, or technical term for something so they belittle you until you break down and cry. THEN and only then do you get your lens cleaner...errr...I mean microfiber operators lens multipurpose clensing cloth C-87.
Why are they so hateful? Power trip? maybe. They ARE the biggest factor on you getting your project done. A refusal from them could mean an F.
Why take a job like that SO seriously. Yes to make sure all the equipment stays in good condition, but to take it that far? I just want a fucking extension cord, and I don't feel like I should want to switch my major just so I don't have to use one.

Kacey and I also discussed living off campus. Cheaper rent, amazing new "starvation diet," and excommunication.

Wait? Excommunication? yes.

We both agreed, people living oncampus do not talk to those who live in an apartment. They act like we wouldn't understand the hardships of sharing a room. "You ain't on MEALPLAN!" It wasn't that long ago that I was in their position so they should look to us as their future. The light at the end of the tunnel.

People are so weird, and I'm glad Kacey agrees.
