Oct. 7th, 2005 12:33 amYAY! I had a GREAT interview @ Mechanism today, and they told me they would have a pow-wow tomorrow and discuss whether they want me as an intern or not.
Well they called me back 3 hours after the interview to tell me I got it.
But let me back Tarentino this story back and start from the beginning.
Two days ago while job searching online I came across a company that did motion graphics (amongst other things) so I sent them my resume and link to my demo reel and website.
Well they contacted me back IMMEDIATELY saying that they didn't have any positions open but they felt that my work and my style complimented theirs very well and wanted to interview me for maybe a internship position with the possibility of a position afterwards. Unfortunately an unpaid internship.
So I said that I would love to come in and talk about the internship and get interviewed. So I asked them when they would like to interview me, and what the dress code was...
"We want to see you ASAP, like tomorrow @ 1:00pm if you are free. Oh and jeans and a tshirt. We are really relaxed here (I am wearing a sweatshirt today)"
So I go in with my Demo Reel, and I walk in to a GREAT studio space with all these people working and smiling and laughing. And I am greeted with warm smiles and happy people who aren't just "work happy" but HONESTLY happy and excited to meet me. They bring me around to everyone and introduce me, and then into a room with couches and we all sit and relax and talk about my reel, my work, the company, my thoughts on design, where I get my inspiration, stuff like that.
They were SO much EASIER to talk to then @ Agency.com at my last interview.
The head creative director, the guy in charge, and I quote, said, "Richard I'm really glad you emailed us. I saw you're real and I am SUPER fucking excited about it! I really loved your sense of style and how you push limits."
Super fucking excited. My soon to be boss said "Fucking" at an interview.
I love him already.
Well after a GREAT interview with all of us laughing and joking, I left really feeling confident and hopeful.
Then later I got that call that confirmed it.
So I start on Wednesday with a completey flexable schedule.
