Dec. 20th, 2005 11:10 amMy body is tired and sore, and I'm pretty sure I am coming down with something.
Yesterday on the BART, miraculously I recieved a phone call from a coworker urging me to get to the office ASAP by calling a cab which they would take care of.
I thought, "SWEET! there goes the 40 minute walk!"
The minute I got there I was put to work on a project I had never seen before. In a nutshell I was told to animate and change all these layers in an animation file.
The file was over 300 layers, all in 3d space, all UNNAMED. It was a headache and a half, but I got it done by around 3.
5 hours straight without getting up from my desk. Ok....not too too bad.
I had plans to go see Cassanova @ 6 but was called into a meeting @ 4:30 and asked to stay late to finish the project.
I ended up staying until 9:45pm and was exhausted.
Now I am not complaining, I love my job, and it felt good to hear all the praise from the clients and my bosses about how hard I worked and how great the animation looked. But I was BEAT.
2 of my 3 bosses stuck around to make sure it all got done, so as I was rendering, they came over and gave me the news.
My company wants to hire me on Salary, not just as freelance, and that they want me to start after the new year. PLUS they want to give me $3000 for the work I have already done!
They want to talk to me about it later today.
But here's the part I'm stressing about. I sorta kinda overheard that they are planning on offering me $25,000 to start.
That is ridiculously low for my profession and skill set. $40-$60 is what I should be making.
The only dilemma is that I don't want to have to find another job because I love the work and I love the people. But there is ZERO way I could move to the city and afford to pay my student loans, as well as eat and pay bills off of what they are planning on giving me.
I hate talking money, but I need atleast 40 to stay here.
and I really, really, want to stay here.
