Her latest post had me CRACKING UP, and then bawling my eyes out.
She did that "7 things" meme (I still have to do that one myself) and she decided to do 7 weird/funny things and 7 scary/sad/crazy things people might not know about her. When you meet my mom in September (if you live in SF) you'll meet the crazy outgoing smiley loud mom, but if you want to meet the deep, strong, "i've been to the deepest depths of personal setbacks and emotion turmoil and yet I still made it and so can you" mom, then go add her to your friends list.
Many of the things on her list I had only heard mutterings about growing up, and some I had NO IDEA ever happened. It made me realize that there is so much about my parents I have NO IDEA ABOUT, and in someways reflects how it was for me around middle/high school with them. There was a lot that they didn't know and it's great to be at that stage in life where I am far away and older, so they have no choice but to relate to me not only as mother/father/son, but as a friend as well.
This stage in life is pretty amazing.
