Let me just start off by apologizing for not being as visible this
lazy bear. Lately I have been having a relapse in my stomach/etc
condition and have been fatigued and exhausted randomly. I went to
bed most of lazybear around 10pm (except for Basket when I was BLESSED
with all the saved up energy to get everyone dancing for 4 and a half
hours) and wasted a lot of LB taking 3 hr naps when I should have been
out and about. I wish I could have been there for more "meet-n-greet" time. On the flipside it really did feel like a vacation so that was nice.
But.....that aside.

I am so IMMENSELY proud of everyone that was involved with The Kuma
Parties™ this year at lazybear. It has been a long time goal to bring
something new and exciting to LazyBear and we all did it.
TWICE.
TWO DAYS IN A ROW.
NOT. AN. EASY. FEAT.
I can guarantee that no one was ready for what we brought them and I
felt so proud to have my name associated with that. I hope everyone
involved is aware of the splash we created.
Basket. JEEE-ZUSSSSS CHRIST.
"I have never been to such a fun Basket before!" overheard by me at
Bob n' Boy by a SF resident. When we can take a monthly that people
have grown to love and look forward to, and then reinvent it and make
it a whole new yet familar experience for a LOCAL, that is saying
something. I knew the people from out of town were going to be blown
away, but we managed to impress the people who are already aware of
how fabulous Kuma parties are.
I got there a little before 9 to help set up, and by 9:15 I was on a
box doing what I do best, GOGOing my little heart out to get people
dancing. By 9:20, that dance floor was PACKED. Luvsik BROUGHT IT
HARD. And the SPEKRFREKS took it that much farther! I could NOT stop
dancing. After I was so HATEFULLY danced OFF my gogo perch, I opted
for the much more visible gogo dancing location.
RIGHT BY THE FUCKING FRONT DOOR IN PLAIN VIEW OF THE PEOPLE PASSING BY.
Those bitches couldn't HELP by start pouring in by the handful! With
the view of gogodancing, the ice luge, the projections, the FIERCE
POUND-YOU-IN-THE-ASS music, and the crowd of people, they would have
been stupid to walk on by.
Who knew that the little monthly bear dance party we started at the
Transfer would grow up so fast and be a SENSATION?
On to Deliverance.
What a fucking BLAST!
I just want to say, I know all of it was a SHITLOAD of hard work, and
more self-sacrifice than one should have to endure, but I just want to
remind all of the Kumanati to shift your focus and see just how much you
brought to LB this year. This was one of the main goals of KUMA when
it was started (which was told to me from Kuma-Father Orme...not that
I was there or anything), to take our talents and give back something
new and different to the bear community (and especially to lazybear)
and show them that it doesn't have to be all stand-n-pose beer busts,
or circuit parties. Events can be epic, and silly, and themed (and
not just bear themes), and can throw curveballs at you, and above all
be FUN.
This is shout out to Orme, the leader of KumaSF and the father or all the stuff you have come to love):
Orme, you really did it this time. When it comes to parties, you
really are a visionary. Fucking Ice luge?? I mean COME ON!
It's not a glamorous job, and it's fucking stressfull as hell!! I can
not thank you enough for sticking with it though and pulling out all
the stops.
The fact that you have created not only an outlet for your creativity
and resourcefulness.....but for others as well is incredible. Without
Basket where would Seth and Jared showcase their culinary talents
every month? or give JP, Adam, Jeb, and all the other regular DJ's a
space to really showcase a different sound? I for one can attest,
there isn't much room in SF for a part-time Mash Up DJ, but you took a
chance on me and I am forever greatful.
Or how about all the bears who are sick of all the Sweats, Fuzz's,
Moist, Furr's, Dirrty's, and Grind's? You really have created a
following here, a brand, that attests to quality vs quantity.
I want you to take a second and look back at all the smiling faces,
the volunteers, your friends around you who really take Kuma and it's
principles to heart, and know that we are all behind you and your
efforts.
/Shoutout
Wow, this is a long rant.
In short: WAY TO FUCKING BRING IT KUMA!
People thought it was already broughten, but wasn't.
Ok enough gushing. I'm just really proud of everyone. It's not easy for the younger sub-set of the bear scene to break into the world of bear events.
OK! I'm OUT!
