Aug. 22nd, 2007 09:39 amThis weekend was exhausting! Although I must say in hindsight it was pretty rad.
Friday work dragged on for about 19900 hours. Then the last hour of the day FLEW by when I wanted to finish everything up before 6. Why does that happen???
I left work to pick up my CDJ-turntables from Orme who had put them in storage (not sure why he did this instead of just giving them back to me, but oh well problem solved). And BOY was I glad I got them back.
After a night of organizing my entire music collection (of spin-able/DJ stuff) and making much needed cd labels as well as new cd collections, the following night was the Midsummer Night's Dream Masquerade party that our friends Dan & Wayne were throwing.
An all out, balls to the wall, over the top, 3 floor, costume party where EVERYONE was in extravagant costumes, consuming a lot of booze, and have a grand ol' time.
A week back they were having trouble finding a DJ. Last year's DJ was kinda eh, and they weren't sure then wanted to hire him again. My friend Joanna, who heard me spin at Kavity (she was one of the 3 women dressed as sexy bear girls) and really liked what she heard, so she hinted that maybe I would like to spin. Wayne called me up, I accepted and boom, it happened. I LOVE spinning for more of a dance/party crowd. It's a little more relaxed, and you can play a broader range of music (all with a crazy good beat of course).
They told me they were going to buy a cheap DJ setup to have for future parties, which as any DJ knows is kinda of scary to hear because you could show up and it could be anything from FIERCE CDJ's and a 5 channel mixer with effects processors, or it could be a 2 channel bluedog mixer with 2 CDWALKMAN's plugge into it.
I offered to bring my Denom platter CDJ's just in case. SO GLAD I DID! They had pretty generic CDJ's but they were more "wedding style" than "club style." The other DJ's were pretty happy when I showed up with CDJ's that had samplers built in and a Vinyl mode.
( The rest of the CRAZY party/DJing )
Sunday went to Asian Art museum for the Manga exhibit and then watched TV.
relaxing and recovering.
THIS SATURDAY I am DJing upstairs with DJ MEDIC (
telecommunicate) at BASKET. JP and I are taking hour long turns behind the decks for an all night take over of JAMS. There will also be catered food and video games up there. Downstairs will be the FABULOUS £50 Note (

So come out out and get Hairrison started!!!
