reb2 asks: "Who started calling you Dicky? How did you get the nickname? I know you as Richard LOL"


I used to sleep over my best friend basis's house every friday night. We'd watch bad horror movies, stay up late and watch MTV's AMP, make stop motion shorts, and generally be silly and stupid. I LOVED those nights.

Anyways....

His dad's name is Richard.

His older brother's name is also Richard (but he goes by his middle name, John).

With me, that made 3 Richards, and it got quite confusing when people like my mom would call looking for me.


Robert's Dad asked me what I wanted to be referred to as, and at that time in my life I answered, "UGH. Anything but DICK."

So being a total asshole and one of my FAVORITE people (he and I have a very special bond and I was one of the very few friends of Roberts that he liked), he proclaimed...

"Great. It's settled. We will call you Dicky."

And that was that.

Robert's entire family know me as Dicky, although a lot of them flipflop back and forth between Richard and Dicky, it is still generally known that that is my nickname.

When I was heavily into the Rave scene, everyone had a nickname. "Fuzzy" "Glitter" "Kand-E" etc.
I started introducing myself as Dicky but it never felt right. I LOVE the nickname Dicky, and I love when people call me that, but for some reason it always felt weird to introduce MYSELF as Dicky.

It still does to this day, however, this year I have made it one of my resolutions to start introducing myself as Dicky. There are a bunch of Richard's here in SF, but I haven't met a Dicky yet.

And that's D-I-C-K-Y

This is a Dickie.

A dickie is a fake turtleneck where it's ONLY the neck portion, no sleeves or anything else. It is meant to trick people into thinking you are wearing 2 layers when you are indeed not.


This is me. I am not a fake turtleneck. I do not like tricking people pointlessly, especially when it's not for a humorous outcome where they would appreciate it.

Do you DARE CALL ME A FAKE TURTLENECK SWEATER!?!? How Rude!


She might wear one, but not me. :)
