Dec. 18th, 2008 09:33 pmA big part of me is angry about the Warren pick, and I am still trying to work out all my feelings about this whole thing.
But I am sad that Obama isn't even officially president yet and we are already dismissing him as "just like the rest."
Bush has done a lot of damage, more than anyone outside of Washington even knows. I can't imagine Obama walking into the white house demanding huge changes and getting any support from the people who want everything to stay the same. Its comfortable for them I am sure. The right is just like us, ITCHING for a reason to feel betrayed so they can justify their arguments. Bush put a lot of powerful RELIGIOUS people into office and they are all just as weary as to who Obama consorts with, the only difference is they are the ones making laws.
Do I agree with his choice? Absolutely not. But it is not my choice to make and through hearing him debate I know he can seperate religious views from political views. I don't think it's "accepting crumbs" by NOT having an all or nothing stance. Obama is not going to fix everything for us. Bush has done SO much damage that just fixing the shit HE'S done is going to be a fulltime job, and he's fucked over EVERY group not just ours.
I don't know which way to lean, but I am weary of jumping straight to outrage because that is exactly what all the Yes on 8 people did and I remember how clouded I thought their judgement was.
I'm talking in a circle, but mainly my point is he's not even in office and we are already starting to waver in support, pick apart every move he makes, and turn to outrage and blanket statements.
There is a differene I think of being angry and questioning his choices, and getting angry and turning our backs to him over one situation (that is more based on a religious ceremony than a political one).
