Hi Richard, I was fine all day but now am getting a few jitters before my weight loss surgery tomorrow AM> But I Know that is very normal. I managed to to lose the 10 lbs required before surgery. That is to shrink the liver a bit to make it easier for the surgeon to move out of the way. Because of multiple abdominal surgeries in my life, there may be too much scar tissue as doc would like to try the lap band first (less invasive). If he can't then he will proceed to the gastric bypass. So it will be either a 2hr surgery or a 4 hr one.
There are risks: blood clots, wound infection, etc but my doc has had me scrub with prescripton surgical scrub for the past 3 days. Also I will be wearing surgical stockings 24/7 except for showering for 2 weeks along with ankle pumps which push the blood back to the heart. All these precautions to prevent clots. He also demands all his patients get up and walk 6 hrs after surgery no matter how much it hurts. He does give you lots of IV pain meds. Lookig forward to that! The nurses say 16 laps around the nursing station = 1 mile. We can do it in stints, but he wants a mile a day. Dad will be with me for most of the day though I'll be out of it for most of the day and Mena my friend will come in the afternoon, and maybe Alissa, Richard' older sister, after work. Dad and then Mena will have my cell phone to call you after surgery. (If dad can figure out how to use it. He's so cell phone illiterate!!!!).

I am glad Jeff is out of the regular hospital and into Rehab,one more baby step to recovery. I will miss the updates till I come home from the hospital but it will be the first thing i will do is to check his update. Richard, I am bringing the picture of you and Jeff with me to the hospital to give me courage and strength to get thru this. He has such courage and I love and admire him so. Dave: give him a big hug and tell him it's from ME. Tell him I am waving to him all the way from Connecticut, he'll know about our mutual waves of communication that we do. Take care GUYS.
