Feb. 26th, 2007 03:55 pmI love how everyone is SURPRISED bear411 got hacked and is going crazier than britney spears with clippers.
Have you seen how janky and clunky that site is?
People have been making hacks for it for a long time to get pictures that were "locked" and stuff.
It was only a matter of time before someone actually decided to be BORED enough to effortlessly take control of the site....
So I ask you this?
What has Mr. Buddybear done? shut the site down until it's protected?
How about warning people that the site is comprimised??
Has a single email gone out saying that anything is wrong?
Not that I am aware of.
When you create a site, and then ask people to pay for using it, you are basically saying "this is a secure site, you can trust me with your personal and finacial information."
To give THOUSANDS of people a false sense of security, and charge them for a service that can be overtaken that easily...
That's way worse than being the one who exploits holes in a already faulty system in my opinion. If anything it brings MUCH needed awareness to a group of people following a site blindly thinking everything including security is taken care of and that the practices are fair and just.
I'm in no way condoning WHAT the hacker/hackers are doing as being right (ie deleting profiles, deleting contacts, etc). A lot of people are losing information, and contacts with friends they need to keep intouch with. BUT....
It was just a matter of time before someone did something...bear or otherwise.
With all the "techy" ursine men out there I am SHOCKED it wasn't sooner.
I'm just glad it got people talking. SO many people are just unaware and uninformed.
All in all, if you want my money, give me a safe and secure site with honorable practices. Simple as that.
And if I give you my money, you better believe I am holding it up to you to provide me with security.
