jameth is running for the User Representation spot of the advisory board.
As far as I know the only candidate with ACTUAL previous advisory board experience, SF Department of Elections, as well as many other credentials (here).
Say what you want about him (merely stating my opinion) but there is so much ridiculousness surrounding him and people on LJ I just can't even believe it anymore.
People saying things like "He's a bad person and here's why" except never actually get around to the "here's why" part, but then BAN you when you start a dialog that is contrary to what they believe. AND THEN talk about how they want a candidate that helps uphold free speech!!!
Who knew there were so many people on LJ with photosensitive epilepsy! They are all up in arms about his use of flashing icons, such like mine, that apparently trigger their migraines/seizures, but instead of taking the blame for not taking the necessary precautions themselves, would rather blame their condition on him. As if he is supposed to be held accountable for their disorder. I'm sorry, but if a 100x100 flashing icon trigger's something like a seizure for you, you MIGHT want to reconsiderusing the internet using livejournal, a collective of images and journal entries that you can't control.
jameth has yet to block or ban anyone from spouting out nonsense on his journal. For someone who pushes the limit of online free-speech, it's nice to see that he upholds those same privileges for other LJ-users.
If this makes you me as one of thosejameth fanboys because I choose to support him, then fine. But I do. I think he would make a great addition to the advisory board. Someone who knows what LJ is really about, what kind of ridiculousness it holds, all the different user groups, and that as someone who uses the free-speech arguement a lot, has a lot at stake for keeping it part of LJ.
GO VOTE. VOTE FOR WHO YOU WANT. JUST FORM YOUR OWN OPINION WHEN YOU DO (whether it aligns with mine or not).
