[The end of a great vacation]
Dec. 19th, 2004 02:09 pmWell tomorrow is my last day here in San Francisco. I am in love with the bay area and will definetly spend a lot of time thinking about moving here.
Yesterday I went and saw the SF Ballet's performance of their Nutcracker. It is a new production this year with all new sets, costumes, and choreography.
I was blown away.
I have never been able to see a truely large scale producton like this ever in my life. I was almost in tears during the snow scene with all the snow falling on stage, the FANTASTIC dancing, and the set comprised of what looked like tree branches receeding into a snowy fog.
Before the performance I walked around back stage and into the costume rooms and the makeup rooms. I met a few dancers, one who made all my ballet friends jealous.
I saw Amanda Schull, star of CENTER STAGE warming up and getting her makeup on. I don't go crazy for celebrities, but with her is was just weird seeing her in the exact same type of setting as in the movie.
I am going again today to see tonight's performance. I have even better seats and now I can really appreciate everything with the "awe" factor decreased.
It will be sad to say goodbye because the weather, the atmosphere, the scenery, and all the wonderful places to discover have really been amazing. SUCH A SHORT WEEK this is has been.
Well it's off to the ballet!
